The investment aims to strengthen Spain’s port infrastructure to support the deployment of offshore wind energy and other marine renewables. To achieve this, the PORT-EOLMAR programme will finance works in Zone I of the State Ports of General Interest -such as docks, esplanades, and logistical facilities - necessary for the manufacture, assembly, and maintenance of offshore wind farms.
The initiative mobilises over €160 million in RRF funding, awarded competitively and matched by at least an equivalent amount of private industrial investment. As part of the Strategic Project for Renewable Energies, Renewable Hydrogen and Storage, the programme is currently in public consultation, with eligible actions required to have started after 1 February 2022 and stakeholder submissions open until 17 September.
The measure reinforces Spain’s position as a key European hub for marine renewable energy.
