Strengthening of the regional public transport zero- emission bus fleet (Mission 2, Component 2, Investment 4.4.1a)
Italy's Recovery and Resilience Plan provides this investment, which consists in the procurement of at least 3 000 zero-emission low-floor buses and at least 1 000 charging stations for zero-and low-emission low-floor buses. Buses shall be equipped with digital features. Eligible buses are low-floor (that is, they belong to the M2 and M3 category of vehicles according to UNECE standards) and are either electric or hydrogen fuel cell.
The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1650 million.
As part of this investment, the project aims to introduce 411 new electric buses into the public transport fleet by June 30, 2026, to reduce environmental impact, improve air quality, and promote sustainable mobility. It also includes building and adapting facilities and installing charging points near terminals to support the operation of these buses.
This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 208.500.000,00.
