The objective of the investments is to improve and upgrade the technology available to the Slovenian police.
For the needs of the police, the judicial system, the financial administration, the inteligence service and parts of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, an operational digital radio network infrastructure under the TETRA standard has been set up throughout the country. The target to implement this investment was achieved in December 2022. It successfully involves more than 11.000 users.
The new system has successfully replaced the various radio networks used to date by public authorities, which were generally analogue, uneven and largely consuming. The new network will ensure continuity of operation, the transition to the VPN IP (Virtual Private Network) technology and the optimisation and better coverage of the terrain with the TETRA radio signal. Neighbouring countries’ public security radio networks are coordinated and compatible with other national radio systems of neighbouring countries in the frequency areas.
This part of the investment amounted to EUR 19.6 million, with EUR 16.1 million supported by the RRF.
For the needs of the National Police, a computer cloud will be set up and operational and interoperable with existing systems at country level. This cloud will ensure the smooth functioning of police applications. A new generation ePolicistNG mobile solution will also be developed, an automatic face recognition system – ABIS will be implemented and documentary materials will be digitised by introducing modern digitalisation solutions.
This part of the investment amounted to EUR 9.2 million, with EUR 7.6 million supported by the RRF.
Overall, the Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 23.6 million, out of the complete value of the investment at EUR 28.8 million. The projects started in 2021 and will be completed by the summer of 2026.
