Digital transformation of farming in Poland
The European Commission supports the digital transformation of Polish agriculture by identifying barriers, developing recommendations, and implementing actions to increase the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and robotics.
The main beneficiary is the Ministry of Digital Affairs, with funding provided by the European Commission.
Context
Polish agriculture is at a crossroads, facing mounting pressure to modernise in response to global trends, EU policy priorities, and evolving consumer expectations. Despite the availability of EU and national support programmes, the sector’s uptake of advanced digital technologies remains limited.
Key challenges include low digital skills among farmers, insufficient advisory services, fragmented data infrastructure, and regulatory barriers. At the same time, there is a growing need to increase productivity, ensure environmental sustainability, and enhance food safety and transparency.
Addressing these challenges is essential for building a resilient, competitive, and future-ready agricultural sector in Poland.
