Advancing the digital transformation of polish enterprises
The European Commission is supporting the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology in assisting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Poland to digitalise their operations with the goal to improve the overall productivity, growth, innovation, competitiveness, labour market, and education.
Context
The Ministry of Economic Development and Technology runs the website Biznes.gov.pl, which serves as an Entrepreneur Information Point. Biznes.gov.pl is a service both for people starting and running a business, which offers online services, up-to-date information on running a business and an Entrepreneur Help Centre with experts. One of the objectives of the Ministry and biznes.gov.pl is to support the digital economy and support enterprises in digital transformation.
Digitalisation is at the core of the EU priority of digital transformation and an essential element for a company to stay on the market, it allows the streamlining of internal processes in a company, facilitates access to data and speeds up the exchange of information, which leads to increased work efficiency and time savings. In Poland, however, only the largest companies in highly competitive industries digitalise, while small and medium-sized enterprises do so reluctantly. The level of digital technology use by Polish micro (up to 9 employees) and small (10-45 employees) enterprises is very low.
Support delivered
The contractor delivered with EU funding and support, and the active involvement of the Ministry for Economic Development and Technology the following artefacts:
- a report diagnosing the main problem (including stakeholders mapping),
- customer segmentation analysis,
- guidelines (action plan) to improve competences in digitalization and cybersecurity,
- mock-ups of a module of a web portal,
- co-creation workshops.
Results achieved
The Ministry has an action plan to support enterprises with the aim to achieve a higher rate of digitalisation and less reluctance toward the digital transformation of micro and small, and medium enterprises in Poland.
