The aim of these investments is to improve the water supply network management. They are especially important for the development of rural areas, where quality of water service provision is lagging behind the national average.
Investments in the public water supply network (EUR 347 million financed from the Recovery and Resilience Facility) aim to achieve energy-efficient renovation, rehabilitation and extension of 1087 kilometres of water supply pipelines, especially in rural, mountainous and demographically disadvantaged areas, in order to ensure drinking water and improved public water supply systems for around 71,000 people and to reduce water losses in the public water supply systems. So far, 553 kilometres of public water supply network have been built or reconstructed across Croatia.
