Investment in soft mobility (National Plan of Cycle Path) (Mission 2 – Component 2: Investment 4.1)
Italy’s Recovery and resilience plan provides for the construction of at least 565 km of cycling lanes in metropolitan areas and at least 746 km of tourist cycle paths. Cycle paths will facilitate first-mile and last-mile commuting – connecting locations in metropolitan areas to nearby railway or metro nodes, or universities to nearby railway or metro nodes. The eligible tourist cycle paths are defined in Law no. 208 of 28 December 2015.
The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 466.6 million.
As part of this investment, the cycle path links La Sapienza University with Termini Station, a major transport hub. Under the NRRP, Italy plans to develop cycle networks in 40 cities for both tourism and urban mobility. Roma Capitale aims to promote cycling as a key transport mode through a multi-year program focused on improving safety and accessibility for daily cyclists.
This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 595.000,00.
