Thanks to the financial resources provided by the Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Astronomical Observatory at Kolonické sedlo is implementing a project called "Through the Poloniny to the Stars," which also aims to create new and improve existing nature tourism products offered by the Observatory.
The investment includes the construction of new infrastructure that will meet modern requirements for astronomical observations: the construction of two new observation pavilions on the observatory grounds and the installation of new equipment.
The pavilion for visual observations will increase the capacity of the "evening observation" to 30 people at a time and provide them with adequate comfort during observation. The pavilion for astrophotography will provide space for the short-term and long-term placement of amateur astrophotographers' equipment.
The project was implemented from April 2022 to March 2025.
