The measure, with an allocated budget of €5 million, aims to subsidize the acquisition of new medical technology equipment by health institutions operating in Cyprus, in order either to replace existing (depreciated) equipment with new and/or upgraded equioment, serving (or better serving) the same need, or to address new needs through the acquisition of additional equipment, not previously available by the supported institute. Emphasis is given to the acquisition of equipment of high or digital technology.
The main objective of the Scheme is to improve the quality and type of health services provided, hence enhancing the effectiveness and competitiveness of the health sector in the country, in line with the Cyprus RRP overarching goals.
The investment has been completed. In total, 28 private hospitals have received financial support through the scheme to purchase medical equipment.
