Germany is providing funding support to enable the creation of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
A support programme for private charging points has been set up and is administered by the KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau).
Germany has set a target of supporting the installation of at least 689,000 non-publicly accessible charging points in residential buildings by 2024.
This includes support for the necessary grid connections.
To that end, funding guidelines have been published in the Federal Gazette (Bundesanzeiger), enabling eligible households to submit applications for ‘charging infrastructure for residential buildings’.
The implementation of the measure was successfully completed by 31 December 2023.
