The investment supports the training of additional nurses specialised in care for patients with chronic diseases. It also consists of an adaptation of curricula for health professions; the introduction of training for acquisition of specialised skills for qualified nurses; a comprehensive approach to the treatment of geriatric patients; the establishment of a network of equipped regional palliative mobile teams; the strengthening of the mental health system; and the treatment of musculoskeletal pain conditions.
The objectives of the investment are to broaden the skills of nurses allowing them to perform tasks autonomously and to expand the professional competences of doctors at primary care level. This is expected to lighten the workload of family doctors, improve access to primary care, and ensure better treatment conditions.
The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 8.9 million, with the total value of the investment estimated at EUR 9.3 million. The ongoing investment will be completed by the end of 2025.
