The objective of the project is to introduce innovative methods of presenting cultural heritage, aiming to provide novel and enriching tourist and educational experiences.
The initiative involves the restoration and modernization of deteriorated spaces, along with a comprehensive redesign of the program framework. These renovations will result in the creation of new spaces dedicated to housing the Slovenian Language and Book Museum, the Štanjel Incubator for start-up companies, a conference hall, and the Lojze Spacal Gallery.
Funding for this project is sourced from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, contributing EUR 1.66 million to a project valued at EUR 1.67 million in total.
The Ministry of Culture formalized the co-financing agreement with the Municipality of Komen in November 2022. Subsequently, in September 2023, the Municipality of Komen concluded the public procurement process to carry out the necessary construction works. The anticipated completion of the castle renovation is set for December 2025.
