This project aims at reactivating cultural tourism in Spain through the maintenance and modernisation of the historical heritage of the Paradores - state-owned hotels usually located in historic buildings - network. The project aims at the conservation and renovation of the sites and at the modernisation of lighting in 39 buildings classified as goods of cultural interest – the greater protection afforded by the State – and a monumental group, that of the old mountain pass of Alcalá la Real (Jaén).
The beneficiary sites are located in 12 Autonomous Communities (Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Castile-La Mancha, Castile-Leon, Catalonia, Ceuta, Madrid, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, Navarre, the Basque Country) and the autonomous city of Ceuta. The Spanish Government will invest EUR 81.4 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility in this project.
