The project concerns the construction of a solar drying unit for the dewatered sludge produced at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) of Larisa.
Specifically, the project includes:
- Construction of four solar drying facilities within the premises of the Larisa WTP.
- Installation of a new sludge dewatering unit, enabling the direct feeding of dewatered sludge into the solar drying facilities.
- A dewatered sludge reception unit (underground, including a storage tank and sludge conveying screw systems).
- A final product storage unit.
- A hot water production unit.
- Electrical installations and automation of the unit, extension of existing auxiliary networks, procurement of auxiliary equipment (weighbridge), and landscaping of the surrounding area.
The project constitutes an integrated and sustainable solution for sludge management, offering multiple benefits for the environment, the economy, and society. It leads to a significant reduction in transportation and disposal costs, minimizes CO₂ emissions and odors, and contributes to the energy efficiency of the Larisa WTP.
Total Project Budget: €7.5 m
