School 4.0: innovative schools, wiring, new classrooms and workshops (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 3.2)
Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides updating school facilities into adaptable, flexible and digital learning environments, with technologically advanced workshops and a work-based learning process. This measure accelerates the digital transition of the Italian school system with four initiatives:
- Transformation of around 100 000 traditional classes into connected learning environments, with the introduction of related educational devices
- Creation of workshops for digital professions in the second cycle
- Digitalization of school administrations - Interior wiring cabling of approximately 40 000 school buildings and related devices.
The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 2.1 billion.
The heterogeneity of the Institute, in terms of structures, presence, existing equipment, involves a different approach for each single school, while consistently aiming at building a learning environment that guarantees full expression of children's emotional intelligence, which is the basis for the construction of a competence linked to metacognitive reflection. We will therefore have "Thematic classrooms" dedicated to entire disciplinary areas and "Learning environments" where we can produce significant, comfortable teaching connections capable of hosting moments for reading, speaking, listening to music or producing digital artefacts.
The existing learning spaces that will be remodeled thanks to the project are essentially of two types: a first type is equipped with an old IWB generation and video projector, equipment that will need to be completely replaced, and a second type consisting of environments in which digital devices are already installed.
Boards, which will be reused and integrated with the new devices are present, as well as wall-mounted notebook cabinets with computers, that are equipped with an obsolete operating systems and thus need to be replaced.
The total amount financed is EUR 133.848.
