The project involves environmental restoration work at the Cerredo Group's "Única" open-cast mine (Degaña, south-west Asturias) and the adaptation of the area for new uses. With a surface area of 660 hectares, it is one of the three major environmental recovery works - together with Tormaleo (Ibias) and Buseiro (Tineo and Cangas de Narcea) - that the Institute for Just Transition (ITJ), a body under the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, plans to undertake in the Principality of Asturias thanks to funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The works will be carried out by Tragsa.
The budget for the execution of this work amounts to 27 million euros, of which 23.6 million euros will be financed through Component 10: Just Transition of the Recovery and Resilience Plan through the ITJ.
