The objective of the investment is to increase added value in tourism through sustainable development.
The investment consists of the reconstruction and renovation of the Straža mansion, where 14 rooms will be set up on the first floor and a catering facilities on the ground floor and the old wine cellar. The St Michael chapel will also be restored which, on the one hand, will be an asset for the local population and, on the other hand, will allow for an additional tourist offer – the organisation of weddings.
In the 13rd century, a branch of the Cistercian monastery of Kostanjevica in Krka was set up on this spot, while today’s image of the building was mostly shaped the 17th century. Reconstruction and renovation will have to comply with strict technical conditions, as the mansion is a monument of cultural importance. By April 2024, the investor carried out exploratory conservation works and statistic analyses and was at the stage of obtaining a building permit. Completion of the project is scheduled for mid-2026.
The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 1.1 million, while the total value of the investment is EUR 4 million.
