Project for the construction of a canteen serving the school building

  • Project

Plan for the extension of full-time (Mission 4 – Component 1 - Investment 1.2)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for the extension of school time, in order to increase the educational offer of schools and make them open and available to the territory beyond school hours.

The measure envisages the construction or renovation of canteen spaces for at least 1 000 structures to allow for the extension of school time.

Extended schooling hours are expected to have a positive impact on the fight against early school leaving.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 1 billion.

The construction of a new canteen in the school building F.Amatuzio Pallotta is part of this investment.

The goal of the project is the realization of a dining room that can accommodate 50 units, a kitchen, a pantry room with direct access from the outside, a space for washing dishes, a dressing room for school staff and services for students.

The articulation of the spaces has been designed in such a way as to efficiently guarantee the refectory service to all students present in the school complex.

Specifically, given the need to provide canteen services for a total of 83 pupils, the management plan provides for two daily shifts.

In order to reduce the environmental impact of the new building on the existing urban context, there will be a space dedicated to the the construction of an organic educational garden as part of the experimentation of the project "school gardens" and a "recreational" space (which are totally absent at present).

The supporting structure, will be anchored to the platform of foundation, while the roof slab will be made of lateral cement, all designed according to current regulations on seismic structures.

The RRF funds allocated to this project amount to EUR 346.500.
