The PERTE of New Language Economy aims to promote the new digital economy based on natural language in Spain, taking advantage of the potential of Spanish and the co-official languages as a factor for economic growth and international competitiveness in areas such as artificial intelligence, translation, teaching, cultural production and dissemination, research, and science. To this end, it has a budget of 1,100 million euros in public investment, with the aim of mobilising a further 1,000 million euros in private investment.
The first project will create comprehensive corpora for the new language economy. Five projects – with a total budget of 7.5 million euros - have been approved:
- AINA Project (Barcelona).
- VIVES Project (Alicante).
- LEIA Project (Madrid).
- NÒS Project (A Coruña).
- GAITU Project (Vizcaya).
In addition, other two initiatives are going to be financed:
- The International Language Centre (Salamanca).
- Intelligence Centre of the New Language Economy (La Rioja).
