Modernization of the educational environment of Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov Language School, Veliko Tarnovo

The project, financed with EUR 1,7 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility, is a major priority for the municipality for the renovation of the municipal educational institution providing adequate conditions for education.

Despite the efforts of the municipal administration to modernize the building, the funds are extremely insufficient for a serious improvement. The building of "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" high school in V. Tarnovo is one of the few that has not undergone a comprehensive overhaul since its establishment in 1975. The planned investment is expected to have a lasting impact and its effect will yield sustainable results over time .

For the provision of a complete renewed appearance of the school a complete technical documentation was developed, incl. investment project in phase Technical project with construction permit entered into force No. 24/01.02.2023. Its development was commissioned by the high school and the cost is covered by the school's budget. The school falls into the Second group of profiled high schools according to the Methodology for prioritizing the sites in the educational infrastructure of the Republic of Bulgaria of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Along with other measures the project proposal envisages the construction of a STEM environment, stimulating students to acquire a system of competences in the study of natural sciences, mathematics and technology, oriented towards practice and technological professions. 

The investment in the infrastructure of the high school through its modernization is essential for its transformation in a favorable environment, leading to improvement of educational results and motivation for learning.

Activities are planned for major internal and external renovation, construction of an accessible environment of the building and its adjacent space, renovation and construction of installations for the use of alternative sources of energy, heating, ventilation to achieve high energy efficiency, leading to a serious reduction in total costs for energy.
