The project aims to develop the MIURA 5 reusable satellite launcher, strengthening Europe’s autonomous access to space and advancing Spain’s aerospace capabilities. Led by PLD Space, the initiative focuses on the industrial development, testing and commercialisation of reusable launch technologies.
The project is supported by EUR 50 million through COFIDES via the FOCO fund, alongside EUR 40.5 million from the Recovery and Resilience Facility under the PERTE Aeroespacial. It also attracts international investment, including participation from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
The project is currently under development, with ongoing industrial scaling and commercial preparation. It is expected to enhance Europe’s competitiveness in the space sector, foster high-value industrial activity and position Spain as a key player in the European launcher ecosystem.
