- The objectives of the reform are to address long-standing drawbacks of the fresh produce supply chain, especially regarding traceability, market price distortions and the information asymmetry, which weakens producers’ position in the market.
- The reform consists of a new law on unfair practices in transactions in the local fresh produce market, as well as of a Platform customized to Cyprus’ market specificities to be offered to the Producers’ Organizations for recording transactions in the local fresh produce market and communication of its availability.
- The new Law which addresses unfair trading practices in transactions in the local fresh produce market, was entered into force on 29 December, 2021.
- The platform is fully operational as of October 2, 2024.
