School 4.0: innovative schools, wiring, new classrooms and workshops (Mission 4, Component 1, Investment 3.2)

Italy’s Recovery and Resilience Plan provides for updating school facilities into adaptable, flexible and digital learning environments, with technologically advanced workshops and a work-based learning process.

This measure accelerates the digital transition of the Italian school system with four initiatives:

- Transformation of around 100 000 traditional classes into connected learning environments, with the introduction of related educational devices

- Creation of workshops for digital professions in the second cycle

- Digitalization of school administrations - Interior wiring cabling of approximately 40 000 school buildings and related devices.

The investment is financed by Italy’s Recovery and Resilience plan by EUR 2.1 billion.

The project "Scopri... AMO la conoscenza: from idea to action" is part of this investment.

The project aims to adopt the hybrid solution for the school. It envisages the transformation and innovation of the current classrooms, through the design of new environments and a new didactics in line with the different needs.

With this NRP investment line, the school will finally be able to make a quantum leap in facilities, technology and, consequently, education.

The ambitious objectives of the plan will be developed along several investment axes, and the possibility of transforming traditional classrooms into innovative and stimulating environments, with the creation of multifunctional spaces geared towards creativity, is the first step towards supporting new ways of teaching, learning and assessment.

The possibility of using the funds also for furniture and building adaptations will allow this educational institution to provide innovative, welcoming and at the same time aesthetically pleasing environments.

The lowest common denominator will be easily placeable furniture and versatile digital equipment.

The project envisages the reorganisation of classrooms so as to provide students with dedicated rooms for lessons in the arts and humanities as well as for lessons in the technical-scientific sphere.
