The objective of the funding programme is to support cultural institutions in Austria to invest in a more ecological design of their operational structures. The programme focuses on investments to reduce CO2-emissions of the cultural institutions.
The funding programme is mandated to invest in the following areas: renewable energy sources (such as photovoltaics, heat pumps or biomass), energy saving measures (such as heating optimisation or lighting optimisation), circular economy (such as reduction of raw material consumption) and adaptation measures to climate change (such as green facades for cooling).
The Recovery and Resilience Facility provides funding of EUR 15 million.
The fund is managed by the Climate and Energy Fund, in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sport. In August 2022, the “funding guidelines establishing the investment fund for climate-friendly cultural businesses” entered into force.
Based on these, two calls for expressions of interest were launched:
- 1st call: 10 October 2022 to 15 March 2023 (closed)
- 2nd call: 16 March 2023 to 29 September 2023 (closed )
Currently, more than 120 projects have an upright funding agreement under this funding programme.
