The Gravity Wave was born in the year 2019 with a very clear objective: to clean the oceans of plastic. Amaia Rodríguez is, together with her brother Julen, the person behind this ambitious project that in just four years has managed to collect 512,105.81 kg of plastic (as of December 31).
Currently, they collaborate with more than 35 fishing ports in Spain and are present in more than 5 countries. In addition, they have installed containers in these ports to facilitate the management and recycling of fishery products that have reached the end of their useful life.
Along with that Digital Entrepreneur loan, they have also received the Young Entrepreneurs loan, financed with the national budget. A fundamental economic boost for the initial phase of the project.
After the collection and recycling phase, The Gravity Wave certifies the transformation of the collected nets and plastics into materials and products. In 2023, they implemented product traceability with Blockchain. Currently, they are developing materials suitable for the manufacture of seats, beams, and 3D printing, among others. They also have their own furniture collection created under the principles of eco-design.
