As part of its sustainability strategy, cement manufacturer Holcim (Österreich) GmbH is planning to replace the existing pusher grate clinker cooler at its Mannersdorf site (Lower Austria) with a more energy-efficient grate cooler.
As the cement production process is both energy and emission-intensive, it is planned to install a cooler that will increase heat recovery efficiency from around 64% to at least 75%. This will increase the amount of heat recovered by approx. 150 MJ/t of clinker.
It is expected that greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by approx. 17,900 tons per year. The project is currently in the construction phase.
