As part of the project, heating, ventilation and air conditioning will not use any fossil fuel. In addition, the location of such equipment includes elements 30 meters deep under the theater, requiring invading part of the subsoil of the Plaza de Oriente, due to the limited space available under the building.
Finally, its roof included the installation of solar panels on the roof of the building on which it is possible to move (they admit 500kgs of weight), which are being used due to the limited space available there.
The pioneering company in manufacturing these is located in Ávila (Onyx) and has previous experience in these facilities (eg: headquarters of Apple electronics in Cupertino, California, USA).
The intervention is part of investment 4 of component 11 of Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and is being supported with approximately EUR 9 million of NGEU funds. This is also fully part of the Energy Transition Plan of the General State Administration in Spain.
