The objective of the measure is to foster a better management of the data collected and held by the Estonian public authorities.
It aims at improving the quality of the data, increase its use for decision-making as well as its availability as open data, so that it may also be reused by other stakeholders.
The measure consists of:
- the creation of a centre of excellence within Statistics Estonia (the Estonian government agency responsible for producing official statistics) to coordinate and support the development of data governance in other public authorities,
- the development of data governance and data sharing tools/information systems,
- the implementation of projects aiming at improving the quality of data held by public authorities and increasing the availability of open data.
258 projects have finished, mostly on data description/creation of business vocabularies.
1787 datasets have been made public on the national open data portal.
