School Sports Infrastructure Enhancement Plan (Mission 4, Component 1, Investment 1.3)
The Italy's Recovery and Resilience Plan aims at strengthening sport infrastructure and encouraging sport activities. Reinforcing sporting activity is expected to combat early school leaving, enhance social inclusion and reinforce personal aptitudes.
The investment will upgrade sports facilities and gyms attached to schools to ensure an increase in the educational offer and promote an increase in school time. The investment is financed by the NRRP with EUR 300 million.
As part of this investment, the construction of the gymnasium will contribute to the social and urban redevelopment of the area, significantly enhancing the range of services provided by the municipality to local schools. The facility will allow for a variety of sports activities—such as volleyball, basketball, and five-a-side football—to be carried out in all weather conditions, thanks to the covered playing area. By creating spaces designed to improve urban quality, the project aims to support a new process of regeneration that benefits both the local economy and the community.
The building’s structural system will consist of a reinforced concrete frame.
The project includes:
- Installation of an underfloor radiant heating system;
- Installation of a solar thermal system to assist the heat pump in hot water production;
- Integration of a photovoltaic system sized to meet the building’s energy needs;
- Installation of a rainwater recovery system.
This project is financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility with EUR 826.500,00 and it is currently being implemented.
