Construction of a near-carbon neutral school completed

Project

This investment has delivered the first near carbon neutral public school in Malta, with an EPC rating of -9, surpassing the minimum near-zero energy levels for the Maltese Islands. The new school building is considered as a positive net renewable energy producer.

The Msida Primary School, which consists of 40 classrooms, has a capacity for around 500 students. Sustainability features include a high-grade wall and roof insulation, rainwater harvesting for irrigation and sanitary use, as well as renewable energy systems. Access for persons with disabilities is ensured throughout the building and the school also offers digital learning facilities.
