Construction of natural gas infrastructure to ensure energy security

  • Project

The investment includes the construction of approximately 250 km of new transmission network between Gdańsk and Gustorzyn, enabling a transmission capacity of 1,320,000 m³ of gas per hour. The new infrastructure is crucial for:

• increasing Poland’s energy security,

• diversifying natural gas supply routes,

• strengthening the regional energy market in Central and Eastern Europe,

• supporting the planned FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) terminal in the Gulf of Gdańsk, one of the most important projects for Poland’s LNG infrastructure.

KPO investment funds will finance the construction of the onshore part of the transmission system linked to the FSRU, allowing Poland to import larger volumes of gas by sea—key in the context of geopolitical changes and reduced imports from the East.

The expansion of the north–south transmission network and the development of the FSRU terminal will strengthen the resilience of the energy system and the stability of gas supplies, which are essential for stabilizing the operation of the National Power System amid the growing share of renewable energy sources.
