The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice (SUM) aims to become a leading educational center. To achieve this, a range of initiatives will be undertaken to increase the innovation of teaching programs and methods, expand the educational offer, and enhance national and international mobility of the academic community. Incorporating ICT-based classes, research skills development, scientific methodology training, and teamwork exercises into the curriculum is expected not only to increase the attractiveness of SUM study programs but also to foster a conscious and responsible academic community. Emphasis on the quality and currency of teaching materials—both in course literature and e-learning resources—will improve the overall quality of education.
Planned outcomes include:
* Ability to conduct lectures and exercises remotely.
* Modern e-learning platforms providing access to educational resources for thorough exam preparation.
* Remote medical consultations: virtual reality will enable teleconsultations, maintaining healthcare services with minimal physical contact.
* AI systems supporting remote learning by answering student questions, providing learning materials, and monitoring progress.
* Interactive monitors to better prepare the university for sanitary regimes requiring remote teaching.
* Telemedicine and remote consultations, allowing students to participate in consultations and observe medical procedures live.
