CO2 capture at the wood-fired power plant

  • Project

EnergieWerk Ilg GmbH operates a wood-fired power plant in Dornbirn (Vorarlberg) that produces green electricity and heat using regional biomass. The CO₂ capture project makes it possible to separate biogenic CO₂ from the flue gases of the biomass power plant. A carbon capture plant is now to be installed for this purpose.

The high-purity carbon dioxide (CO₂) obtained can be used in the food industry and e-fuels production, replacing the use of CO₂ from fossil sources.

It is expected that annual greenhouse gas emission can be cut by approx. 3,750 tons. The project is currently in the construction phase.
