The measure aims to improve Slovenia’s innovation performance by increasing public and private investment in research, development and innovation (RDI), to strengthen public-private cooperation and the wider innovation ecosystem, and to foster entrepreneurial investment for the green transition, in particular in relation to circular economy.
The supported projects were selected through a public call, published by SPIRIT - Slovenia Business Development Agency in April 2022. The call invited consortia consisting of three to eight companies to submit project proposals for co-funding pilot and demonstration (PD) projects to develop and test new or improved products, processes or services with a high added value and a market potential, focusing on green and circular economy. The call, therefore, also pursues environmental objectives and targets in line with the National Climate and Energy Plan.
A total of 60 consortia have submitted a project application for co-funding, with SPIRIT selecting 21 in May 2023, with the total value of EUR 20.5 million.
The Recovery and Resilience Facility is providing funding of EUR 21 million for the purposes of this measure, supporting the costs of research and development activities in industrial research and experimental development, testing and putting in place practical solution.
