Energie AG Oberösterreich Erzeugung GmbH operates a gas-fired boiler plant for district heating in Sankt Pantaleon (Upper Austria). In the future, the use of natural gas is to be largely replaced by solid biomass. The planned biomass plant can be operated almost all year round and generates around 25,239 MWh of heat per year.
This corresponds to a share of around 81% renewable energy in district heating generation. The annual greenhouse gas emissions savings are expected to amount to 5,492 tons after project completion. The project is currently in the construction phase.
