The leather manufacturer Wollsdorf Holding Schmidt GmbH & Co KG produces leather that is used internationally as a material in the automotive, aircraft and furniture industries.
In order to replace the gas/oil-fired boiler, a 5 MW biomass boiler - including an electrostatic precipitator, a chipping plant, a new drying plant and a refrigeration plant - is to be installed at the Wollsdorf site (Styria).
The conversion will reduce the total energy requirement from 27,286 MWh to approx. 23,190 MWh. This will lead to an annual reduction in greenhouse gas emission of approx. 5,749 tons. The project is currently in the construction phase.
