BeeLand is an agricultural agenda funded by the RRP that studies and strengthens the Portuguese beekeeping sector by characterising pollination services and enhancing the value of honey (especially Mel DOP with Protected Designation of Origin). It brings together a consortium of around 15 partners from industry, research, and agriculture to develop tools such as the digital Pollination Exchange platform linking beekeepers and farmers, and methods to support biodiversity, sustainable pollination, and regional resilience.
The project also supports the creation of a digital marketplace for Portuguese honey, the development of apiculture aptitude maps, best‑practice guides, and rapid honey quality testing methodologies to boost environmental sustainability and economic value across territories
