European Youth Week

The Recovery and Resilience Facility: What’s in store for young people?

  • Conferences and summits

The European Youth Week is organised by the European Commission every two years to promote youth engagement. The 2024 edition was focused on democratic engagement ahead of this year’s European Parliament election. During the kick-off event on 12 April 2024 held on the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels, more than 900 young people were invited to participate in a full day of sessions, including a total of 34 breakout sessions

In this context, SG-RECOVER organised a breakout session dedicated to the positive impact of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) on young people. The session focused on the experience of eight young participants from across the EU who benefited from RRF measures in different ways, accompanied by the perspectives of national implementing bodies and the European Commission.

The session was opened by the presentation of key facts on the RRF and a speech by Director-General Céline Gauer who highlighted the importance of the RRF for young people. Ms Gauer’s intervention was followed by the presentation of two RRF implementing authorities from Austria and Poland

At the core of the session, the eight young participants from seven different Member States presented their concrete experience with the support from the RRF. They, firstly, introduced the specific RRF measures and projects, secondly, explained how exactly they benefited from them and how these influenced their lives, and thirdly, they provided advice to other young people on how to benefit from RRF measures in their home countries.
