Public Research & Development support for five areas of medical and related sciences’
(reference 5.1.I1 in the Czech Recovery and Resilience Plan)
This measure funds five research & development consortia in the areas of infectious diseases, cancer, neuroscience, cardiovascular diseases related to diabetes and obesity, and research on the socio-economic impact of diseases.
The investment will support the establishment of national research authorities in the relevant areas, which will help the Czech public administration in its reaction in health crisis situations. Among others, the investment will equip researchers with scientific infrastructure, and help them improve their knowledge. The consortia are now being set up. They should be fully integrated into the Czech R&D system by Q4 2025 and have an overall budget of CZK 5 billion (around EUR 210 million).

Central European Digital Media Observatory Hub (CEDMO)
(reference 1.4.I2 in the Czech Recovery and Resilience Plan)
With CZK 1 billion (around EUR 43 million) EUR 43 million funding, the Recovery and Resilience Facility supports the creation and activities of the Central European Digital Media Observatory Hub (CEDMO). CEDMO's goals are detecting disinformation, including through the use of machine learning, preparing digital and media training and materials, and developing fact-checking platforms debunking disinformation on Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, COVID vaccines, 5G networks and other topics. Led by Charles University, it staffs a multidisciplinary team of technical scientists, humanities scholars, journalists and fact checking professionals to help the region’s fight against disinformation.

Czech Oncology Institute
(reference 6.2.I1 in the Czech Recovery and Resilience Plan)
The Recovery and Resilience Facility supports the creation of Czech Oncology Institute in Prague will provide cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment in one single location, with the aim of becoming a medical centre with international outreach in the Central and Eastern Europe region. It will be built as part of the Motol University Hospital, which is the largest hospital complex in Czech Republic and the second largest in Europe.
Cancer is a major health issue in Czechia and the establishment of the Czech Oncology Institute shall help improve the fragmented cancer care in Prague as well as lead to more efficient care, better staff and equipment management, overall resulting in higher quality of care for patients. It is expected that the centre will treat 8,500 to 11,200 hospitalized patients per year.
Besides the Czech Oncology Institute in Prague, this measure also strengthens local oncology centers with technologies and equipment as well as the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno. The total value allocated for all these investments is around CZK 8 billion (around EUR 335 million).

Road and rail safety
( 2.1.I4 in the Czech Recovery and Resilience Plan)
This investment saves lives by funding safety measures at railway crossings and improving the conditions of eight railway bridges and tunnel structures. Three bridges have already been reconstructed (namely the Rumburk - Sebnitz railway bridge, the Čerčany - Světlá nad Sázavou railway bridge and the Havlíčkův Brod - Pardubice-Rosice n/L. railway bridge). In cities and agglomerations, investments will also be made to reduce the share of individual car journeys and increase the share of public transport and active modes of transport such as pedestrian and cycling. Overall, 291 level crossing projects throughout Czechia will be supported, in the form of new or modernised flashlight warning systems or mechanical installations. 85 kilometres of cycle paths and pedestrian barrier-free routes will be built to support healthy movement.
